The Mammal Celebration Continues: Maternity Photos on Martha's Vineyard

You might know that I love photographing newborn babies (and if you didn’t know that, you can see them here and here and here and here and here). And I love photographing birth. But I also love photographing before all of that - those days when your body is hosting another body, a mammalian miracle that is both profound and astonishing.

Many new parents-to-be that I meet aren’t sure about having maternity photos done. You feel huge. Even if you are sailing through the home stretch, you are uncomfortable and ready to just evict that precious little squatter who keeps elbowing your lungs. But that is just the point. Maternity photos are to document the changes that your body has gone through for this hard work.

I offer a client closet of maternity gowns for you to wear for your session. Your session is an opportunity to get glamorous, to see yourself in a new light. Maternity photos are one of the only experiences in life that you can not go back and re-do, and they’re worth the time and energy (and I promise I make it quick and pain-free).

If you’re having a new baby soon (or in the future) on Martha’s Vineyard and you’ve been thinking about maternity photos, I’d love to talk to you!
