Now you’re the big sister/brother

For first babies, the maternity session is often a time of relaxed celebration, when we get to be ambitious and perfect, full of anticipation, curling up cozy in the liminal space before everything changes forever.

For subsequent babies, the maternity session is everything a second baby brings: chaos, change, adaptation, and the optimism of hope that a growing family brings. For your maternity session with an older sibling(s), I think the photos are all about settling in to a new family dynamic - the bittersweet understanding that everything is going to change forever, again, and you want to snuggle your babies extra hard. I follow the sibling’s lead to get moments of authentic connection - especially for toddlers, who cooperate on their terms only.
